AMR Corp. seeks to sell luxury London townhome

American Airlines parent AMR Corp. will ask a bankruptcy judge on Wednesday for authority to sell for $22.8 million a luxury London "townhome" that company employees said has been a symbol of executive privilege and excess for more than a decade, officials said.
 
American spokesmen said the six-bedroom, six-bathroom, 5,242-square-foot townhome in London's ritzy Kensington district has been owned by the company for nearly 20 years.

Even after all the heartache and sacrifice caused by the American Airlines' bankruptcy, more maintenance work is done in-house in Tulsa than is performed at any other U.S. carrier.

Thirty-one heavy maintenance lines are operating today at American's repair bases, compared with six at US Airways, three at Southwest, three at United, three at United's Continental subsidiary and none at Alaska or Delta. The pulse line operating in Tulsa turns around aircraft faster than at any other maintenance facility on the globe.

AA/US Airways Merger Talks
Dear Brothers & Sisters:

This letter is in response to the numerous phone calls and emails we have received regarding press coverage on AA/US Airways merger talks, as well as the reports on signed MOUs by APA and APFA. Our assumption is that, much like in other bankruptcies, pilot and flight attendant were the first work groups to be addressed because of the inherent intricacies of flight schedules, work rules, FAR restrictions, etc.

Court Updates

September 24, 2013

The Court conducted the thirty-sixth omnibus hearing today.  The main item on the agenda was  a pretrial conference in the case of Fjord v. AMR Corporation, Adv. Pro. No. 13-1392.  The plaintiffs in this action allege antitrust violations under section 7 of the Clayton Act.  This is a separate action from the one brought by the Department of Justice and the Attorneys General pending in the District Court in Washington D.C..  After extensive argument the Court determined that the District Court action should be heard and determined first, with this private action proceeding after the District Court has rendered a ruling.  In the event of a settlement of the District Court action, the parties are to return to the Bankruptcy Court to discuss scheduling.

Transport Workers Seek a Seat at the Table in US Airways/American Airlines Merger Case
Case will go forward despite government shutdown

Washington, DC - Oct 2, 2013 – The Transport Workers Union has taken legal action in federal court to protect the jobs, pay and benefits of its members, TWU President Harry Lombardo said today.

The TWU, Lombardo said, is seeking intervenor status in a lawsuit filed by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) against the proposed merger of American Airlines and U.S. Airways. The case will go forward despite the current government shutdown, under terms of an order issued on Oct. 1 by U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly.
